Website Server Upgrade

We recently have been advised by our hosting provider of an essential security upgrade to web hosting that may affect our clients’ websites.

Action is now required by the provider and ourselves.

Why Is This Required?

Keeping ahead of hackers, AI and spam is becoming a larger and larger task. These upgrades to IT systems & security ensure your website / data is safe.

So What Will Happen?

Everything on the server (the space that holds your website or email) is being moved to a brand new system. This requires significant changes to be made -  with an unexpected and substantial cost to continue our service.

We appreciate no-one needs unexpected bills at present.

Thankfully the cost to each of our customers is anticipated to be

a nominal charge of $35 per website hosted.

No action is required on your part. The updates should be seamless and carried out overnight mid-June (TBC).

This is a one-off charge, and will not recur annually.

What About My Emails?

Your email accounts will continue to work as-is.

We only provide email hosting for a small number of our customers.

In these cases, email accounts will be upgraded;
but again, they will continue to function exactly as they did in the past.

Older Websites

Was your website built before 2017?
It may only seem like a couple of years since we built your website, but some of our older projects are now between 7 and 12 years old. These websites may use old software which is not fully supported after the upgrade.

These sites may need actions to extend their longevity, including:

• Modification to pages to ensure they still work

• Transfer to a different server

• Setup of a new CMS (website management system)

If necessary, the simplest approach will be taken to ensure your websites retain essential functionality, whilst avoiding additional costs.

We will discuss this prior if it applies to your website.

Other Providers

If your website was built by us but is provided via Wix, SquareSpace or Weebly, and you have no email service from us, you will be unaffected by these upcoming changes.
